NEXT PLANNING MEETING

Our next meeting for the 2019 Fallen Hero Memorial Ride will be on September 13th, 2019 at 10:00 AM.  We will be meeting in the AIU Conference Room at the Public Services Center, 2222 West Encanto Boulevard in Phoenix. The AIU Conference Room is located on the west side of the building, west of the main entrance.

Northeast Arizona Ride – This group will meet for check-in/last minute registration between 7:00 and 8:00 AM at the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office in Holbrook, 2411 East Navajo Boulevard. This ride will take riders through Holbrook to near the New Mexico border. Riders will pass near the Petrified Forest National Forest, Holbrook, Winslow to Flagstaff.


The “Holbrook” ride will be honoring Arizona Department of Public Safety Officers James Keeton and Don Beckstead. As this group travels to Flagstaff, they will stop in Winslow to Honor retired DPS Officer/Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Robert Varner.


Northwest Arizona Ride – This group will meet for check-in/last minute registration between 7:00 and 8:00 AM at the Lewis Kingman Park in Kingman after check-in they will move to the DPS Office 2319 E. Andy Devine. This ride will be along Historic Route 66 and will take riders through northwest Arizona communities of Hackberry, Valentine, Crozier, Peach Springs, Seligman and Ash Fork.


The “Kingman” ride will be honoring DPS Officers Alan Hansen and Greg Diley.


Prescott Ride – This group will meet in Prescott at Bucky’s Hotel & Casino, 1500 E. Highway 69. This ride will take riders through Prescott, through Jerome, Cottonwood into Sedona. From Sedona the ride will continue through Oak Creek Canyon to Ft. Tuthill Park.


Check-in and last minute registration will be at Bucky’s on September 20 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. We will also offer check-in and last minute registration on September 21 from 6:00 until 8:00 AM; however, we would greatly appreciate to have all riders checked in and registered on the 20th so we start the ride on time. 


The “Prescott” ride will be honoring Officer Paul Marston in Prescott and Officer/Paramedic Bruce Harrolle in Sedona. 


White Mountain Ride – This group will meet in Pinetop at Hon-Dah Resort & Casino, 777 Highway 260. This rode will take riders through the White Mountain communities of McNary, Eagar, Springerville, Concho, Holbrook and along Interstate 40 to Flagstaff.


Check-in and last minute registration will be at Hon-Dah on September 20 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. We will also offer check-in and last minute registration on September 21 from 6:00 until 8:00 AM; however, we would greatly appreciate to have all riders checked in and registered on the 20th so we start the ride on time.    


The “White Mountain” ride will honor DPS Sergeant David Zesiger, east of Pinetop and Officer Bruce Petersen, near Concho.


Northern Barbecue – Will be held at the Ft. Tuthill Park, Maricopa Ramada. We anticipate all riders to start arriving at the park between 2:00 and 2:30 PM. Due safety concerns for our riders and the location of the memorial monuments of Sergeant Zesiger, Officers Keeton, Beckstead and Brett Buckmister we will be honoring them at the barbecue. 

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER IN 2019

August 1 through 31, 2019 – Late registration for rider/passenger registration.


September 1 through November 2, 2019 – Last minute registration for rider/passenger registration.


September 20, 2019 – Rider/Passenger/Volunteer check-in for the northern ride, Prescott at Bucky's Hotel & Casino and Pine Top at the Hon-Dah Resort & Casino.


September 21, 2019 – Northern ride and barbecue in Flagstaff.


October 18, 2019 – Rider/Passenger/Volunteer check-in for the southern ride, Tucson at Desert Diamond Hotel & Casino.


October 19, 2019 – Southern ride and barbecue at the Crossroads Park in Marana.


November 1, 2019 – Rider/Passenger/Volunteer check-in for the central ride, Phoenix.


November 2, 2019 – Central ride, closing ceremonies and barbecue in Phoenix at the Arizona Department of Public Safety Headquarters, 2102 W. Encanto Blvd.

Upcoming Events AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION

2019 FALLEN HERO MEMORIAL RIDE & DPS 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

We are planning a multi-day charity motorcycle ride throughout Arizona to honor the fallen heroes of Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). All net funds will be donated to the Concerns of Police Survivors, Arizona (C.O.P.S., AZ), a non profit 501(c)(3) corporation.


The first event will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Prescott, Arizona. Riders and support volunteers, if it can be done safely, will ride to each of the DPS fallen heroes monuments in northern Arizona where a ceremony will be held. At the conclusion of the day, all participants and other guests will be invited to a catered barbecue at Ft. Tuthill Park in the Flagstaff, Arizona. We will also be holding a 50/50 Raffle at the barbecue.


The second event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Tucson, Arizona. Riders and support volunteers will ride to each of the DPS fallen heroes monuments in southern Arizona where a ceremony will be held. At the conclusion of the day, all participants and other guests will be invited to a catered barbecue at the Crossroads Park in Marana, Arizona. We will be holding a 50/50 Raffle at the barbecue also.     


The last leg of the event will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019. This leg of the event will start at Desert Wind Harley-Davidson, 922 S. Country Club Drive in Mesa.  Riders and support volunteers will ride to each of the DPS fallen heroes monuments in central Arizona where a ceremony will be held. At the conclusion of the day, family members and the participants from all three events and other guests will be invited to the closing festivities at the Arizona Department of Public Safety Headquarters in  Phoenix. During this barbecue we will be have a 50/50 Raffle, raffling a 2019 Honda CRL 450 motorcycle and numerous other prizes.  


The closing ceremonies will include a procession of the motorcycles and volunteers to the DPS Headquarters Fallen Hero Monument, guest speakers, raffle prizes and a catered barbecue (donated by  Matt's Classic Dogs and the Coalition of DPS Retirees, Inc.).


Our Purpose

Our purpose and goal is to ensure our fallen heroes are not forgotten, raise money for the Concerns of Police Survivors, Arizona Chapter, who provide long term assistance to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. 


To make this a very successful event we will need a tremendous number of sponsors, volunteers and participants who do not ride necessarily have to ride motorcycles!
