Event Highlights - Please Join Us in this honorable event

The Northern Ride - September 21, 2019

Our main check-in and last minute registration for riders and volunteers for the Northern ride will occur on September 20th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on the 21st from 6:30 AM until 8:00 AM at our host hotel in Prescott. 

 

The main ride will began at between at approximately 8:00 AM from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, District Office located at 1111 Commerce Drive in Prescott. However, we will have other starting points for this ride also:


  •  In all, we have a total of 10 monuments that will be visited. The officers names are Paul E. Marston (Prescott), James L. Keeton and Don A. Beckstead (near the Arizona/New Mexico border), Alan H. Hanson and Gregory A. Diley (DPS District Office in Kingman), Bruce A. Petersen (State Route 61 Milepost 368 in front of the school), David J. Zesigner (State Route 260 Milepost 195) Brett Buckmister (Northbound US 89 at milepost 544.8) and Bruce W. Harrolle (Sedona Fire Station State Route 179, 2860 Southwest Drive, Sedona). 
  • We will also be visiting retired DPS officer/Navajo Deputy Sheriff Robert W. Varner, Jr. memorial site (located at located on the southeast corner of Interstate 40 and Park Drive in Winslow). 
  • We will have riders and volunteers starting Kingman, at the DPS District Office located at 2319 E. Andy Divine Avenue.
  •  We will also have riders starting the ride in outlining areas near the Arizona/New Mexico border on Interstate 40 and in the White Mountain area.   
  • Riders and volunteers outside of Prescott, will check-in with the Road Captains from that area. 

Barbecue will begin at around 3:00 PM on September 21st.


The Southern Ride - October 19, 2019

 Our main check-in and last minute registration for riders and volunteers for the Southern ride will occur on September 20th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on the 21st from 6:30 AM until 8:00 AM. Location to be determined. 


 The main ride will began at approximately 9:00 AM from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, District Office located at 6401 S. Tucson Boulevard in Tucson. However, we will have other starting point for this ride also:


  •  In all, we have a total of 12 monuments that will be visited. The officers names are Louis O. Cochran, Michael Crowe and Timothy A. Huffman (DPS District Yuma), Noah M. Merrill (Eastbound Interstate 10 rest area in Texas Canyon), John C. Walker (Tucson International Airport), Thomas P. McNeff and Richard G. Stratman (Eastbound Interstate 10 on-ramp at milepost 236), Edward A. Rebel (Westbound Interstate 10 on-ramp at milepost 236), David G. Gabrielli, John M. Blaser and Juan N. Cruz (DPS District Office in Tucson), Manny H. Tapia (in front of the Nogales Police Department).   
  • We will have riders and volunteers starting the ride in outlining areas near Benson and yet to be determined. 
  • Riders and volunteers outside of Tucson, will check-in with the Road Captains from that area.  

 Barbecue will begin at around 3:00 PM on October 19th. 

The Central Ride - November 2, 2019

Our main check-in and last minute registration for riders and volunteers for the Central ride will occur on November 1st from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on the 2nd from 6:30 AM until 8:00 AM. Location to be determined. 


The main ride will began at approximately 9:00 AM from the rest area located on westbound Interstate 10 rest area located at milepost 182 (north of Casa Grande, Arizona). 


  • In all, we have a total of 9 monuments that will be visited. The officers names are Gilbert A. Duthie (Sycamore Creek overpass on State Route 87), Robert K. Martin (southbound State Route 87 at milepost 195) William H. Murrie (southbound Interstate 17 at the Anthem on-ramp), Johnny E. Garcia and Mark M. Dryer (westbound Interstate 10 rest area at milepost 182), Douglas E. Knutson, Floyd J. “Skip” Fink, Christopher R. Morano and Tyler J. Edenhofer (DPS District Office located at 2610 S. 16th Street, Phoenix). 
  • We will have riders and volunteers starting the ride in outlining areas near in areas yet to be determined. 
  • Riders and volunteers outside of Phoenix, will check-in with the Road Captains from that area.  
  • At the conclusion of the ride, we will meet at an area, yet to be determined, near the DPS Headquarters, on W. Encanto Boulevard. From this area, we will form up and ride/drive in formation to the DPS Headquarters. 

 Barbecue will begin at around 3:00 PM on September 21st. 

Memorial Ceremony & Celebration of DPS 50th Anniversary

 At DPS Headquarters, we will have guest speakers, a short ceremony and barbecue to honor the lives of the fallen officer, their family members in attendance and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of DPS. 

The Festivities

We have a number of festivities planned throughout our multi-day event. These events include:

Formation Ride

At the conclusion of the November 2nd ride, we are going to gather in the Phoenix area, ride in formation to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Headquarters and hold a ceremony there. Among the riders, we will have family members of the fallen heroes  carrying three State of Arizona flags with the names of all the fallen officers printed on them.   

Silent Auction

We will have auction items on display for silent our silent auction to help raise our donation contribution to C.O.P.S. - AZ.

Raffle Prizes

We will be offering raffle tickets for sale at the check-in and barbecue locations for various raffle prizes. 

Catered Barbecues

 At the conclusion of all three rides, Matt's Classic Dog's will provide a catered barbecue. Speaking form personal experience, if you have not tired Matt's Classic Dogs, you do not know what you are missing! We also know that they will have three separate menus for the three barbecues (not just hot dogs).
